The analysis on this site rests on named primary sources. This page sets out which institutions and data providers we rely on and what each one is used for in our work. It is an orienting overview of source categories, not a citation list for a particular article — those are always given directly in the text, together with the date the figure applies to.
The primary sources we use
- Statistical Office of the Slovak Republic — Štatistický úrad SR (slovak.statistics.sk) — official statistics on the labour market, average wages, industrial production and macroeconomic indicators. The basis for all wage and output figures.
- SARIO (Slovak Investment and Trade Development Agency) — investment incentives, regional investment aid, the map of priority districts and the conditions of state support for entering and expanding an investment.
- National Bank of Slovakia — NBS — statistics on foreign direct investment (FDI stock and flows), the balance of payments and the breakdown of investors by country of origin. We publish FDI figures only from NBS statistics.
- Commercial Register of the Slovak Republic — Obchodný register — legal and corporate data on entities, the mechanics and timelines for registering an s.r.o. or a.s., and verification of a company’s existence and statutory bodies.
- CBRE, Colliers and Cushman & Wakefield Slovakia — quarterly industrial and logistics market data: Class A hall stock, vacancy, prime and average rents, take-up and pipeline. For real-estate figures we name the provider and the quarter; where values differ, we show both.
- ZAP SR (Automotive Industry Association of the Slovak Republic) — vehicle production, OEM plant output and the weight of the automotive industry in the economy as the anchor of nearshoring demand.
How we layer sources
We prioritise the primary source: the text of a law, official statistics, an adviser’s quarterly report or a company press release. We use secondary media only as a bridge to the primary source, which we then verify. We name the legal instruments in the text; their wording is verifiable on Slov-Lex, the official collection of laws of the Slovak Republic.
